around: bangkok

Bangkok is a city that's easy to fall in love with. The colourful markets, the happy people, the perpetual warm weather, the proximity to the beach, the food... The list goes on! However, we were there on a mission: to learn more about the local fashion scene. Below, check out our highlights of thisthrivingcity.

The Fly Now store at Central World.Welove Fly Now for their amazing VM set-ups. I mean, check out the crazy taxidermy animal heads on the mannequins!'Nuff said.

We really dig how the people of Bangkok love colourful fashion pieces.

Lazy kitty-cats!

This was one of our favourite finds: Never Say Cutz is this great barber shop that was started by one of Thailand's hottest local hip-hop bands. The art work, the crazy shaved hairstyles, and the cool kids that always hung around are what won our hears!

dirty cowboys: bangkok style

While we were in Thailand, we checked out the street-style scene and found that the craziest the Bangkok style-set had set up base at Chatu Chat Markets. To our surprise, we spotted many a dirty cowboy strolling the lanes in their exotic animal skins, native tribal accessories and, of course, cowboy hats. Scroll through just a handful of photos below!

insight garage art tour - style snaps

One thing wefound outabout Bangkok style while we were in town is that Bangkok-ers do laid-back street-chic better than anyone else in the world. They throw outfits together that are totally evening appropriate without ever looking too 'put together'. Stiletto heels and bandage dresses are a rarity, as Bangkok-ers favour ripped denim, unique printed shirts, crazy accessories and bright colours. Whether it's because of their extremely humid climate, their proximity to theocean or the general chilled out nature of their culture, this style set has managed to cultivatethe perfect casual cool look to take you easily from the beach to the bar.

We can safely say that Good Friday 2011 wasn't like any other - in fact, this year, we dubbed it Excellent Friday, as we had the pleasure of hosting the Insight Garage Art Tour in Bangkok at Opposite Space. We kicked things off with a media presentation and rounded the evening out with a rocking band, some jet-fuel style Thai whiskey, and a room full of super-stylish people.
